      Roth,

Can you think of anyway of hacking extra “friction” into the flipper when in the raised position. I have played numerous machines recently and the ball wants to reduce its velocity as it moves across the raised flipper much more than what I have been able to accomplish in VP. Any way to hack a tiny “brake” into it as it rolls up the flipper?

Yeah Roth and I beat the flipper trajectory issue to death, seemingly for years. I still very much believe that if there were a “functional” higher friction setting…higher than 1, it would help with that issue. I typically use friction of 1 for every rubber on the field, but anything above 1 seems to have no effect. I would really like to see the flipper issue resolved in the “core”. But until then, fozzy’s flipper mod seems to work very nicely. I know some will argue that 1 is too high. But I would submit you take a real ball and drag it along a real rubber. There is a ton of friction there. And I think that the lack of friction on the flipper tends to send the shot more to the wide side than it really should. I could be wrong, but I think the flippers missing link is higher friction.

I also believe that the low friction on the PF is no longer needed, as well as the higher ball mass. I was certainly a proponent of this a few years ago, but I have returned to a ball mass of 1, and PF friction of .3 – .35.  It just seemed that when I was using  a mass of 1.7, then all of the other physics were simply scaled up. But in the end, and IMO, it played nearly the same  when the ball had a mass of 1, with the physics more normally scaled. I would like to see someone as scientifically as possible, try to prove or disprove this.

Oh and I apply my preferred physics to all 250+ tables on the cab. And on my personal tables, or the ones that are of higher quality, cradle seps, tip passes and post passes work as they should.

Very close to finishing my latest rev of BBBB:

            • Prim playfield for better saucer physics. Plus the PF reflections are back.
            • Table is no longer raised by 200 units. It now on a zero-plane so that the ball wont be as egg shaped, and custom backdrops will look better.
            • Now using prim PF inserts for greater detail and better lighting. Thanks Schreibi.
            • Bug fixes
            • Physics and lighting improvements

            Wont be much longer.

                      Dozer,

I really hate to see this as well. And I totally understand why you would want to step away. Your work is/was among the best out there.

At the end of the day, all of the authors need to decide if its worth it, to continue producing tables. Yes there are d’bags out there profiting, from our work, and that’s not going to end. I really hope this does not become a trend. But again, I understand why it could become a trend.

I can only speak for myself. But I still enjoy producing tables and sharing them with the community, much more than I hate the before mentioned d’bags, and the the tricks they are pulling. I also prefer to not go investigating to possibly see where our tables might be getting used, as someone else’s cash cow. I wonder how profitable that cash cow really is anyway? Maybe ignorance is bliss in my case.

Thanks again for you excellent contributions. :good:

cuphead doesn’t have its own config in dof config tool yet. you can kind of cheat though. Find out what game this is based upon. Then  change the line that says cgamename=cuphead to the table it matches, while you wait for it to be created.

                        Thanks, worked :D

So what game was it based off of?

BTW, I am almost done with the latest rev that eliminates the elevated playfield.  I have spent a lot of time converting the table to normal height and I’m now using a mesh playfield. What does this mean? Now there are playfield reflections, and less egg-ball. Plus a few extra perks too. Thanks to Cyberpez for helping with the mesh PF. Stay tuned.

Thanks 32A for the continuous improvement on this table.  I recently played a real machine and man – what a great DE pin.  Really enjoying this table. Keep up the awesome work.

My slider MUST be on performance. Balanced and it will glitch.

Make sure the playfield reflections are turned off through the table proprieties. You can also turn off the ball shadows too. You will find this option in the script near the top. The table is very resource hungry and demands a ton of GPU power. What video card are you running? I am running a GTX970 and a dirt old Core2 quad CPU and I have no lag at all, even with ball shadows on. My FPS is around 80 or so IIRC. But I can not have the PF reflections or its unplayable.

If you have an Nvidia card, set the GPU slider in the properties to performance as opposed to balanced, or worse yet quality.

                                            Hope that helps a bit.
